Position Description

The Managing Director will work from Interfaith Peace-Builders' office in Washington DC and is responsible for working with the organization’s staff and the Board of Directors to develop IFPB’s vision and strategic plan.

The Managing Director leads the Management Team, the staff leadership of the organization, and is the formal staff representative on the Board of Directors. The role includes: reporting to the Governance Committee of the Board; identifying, assessing, and informing the Board of internal and external issues that affect IFPB; fostering effective teamwork between Board and staff; and leading the organizational approach to performance assessment, internal organization and communications, as well as organizational tools and systems.

The Managing Director additionally leads the Operations Team in managing internal systems, administrative, financial, and human resources work and is responsible for overall coordination tasks including organizational planning, evaluations, and communication with the Board of Directors to ensure that IFPB operates effectively and in line with our mission.

As a member of the Communications and Fund Development Team, the Managing Director works with the Communications Director and Board of Directors on fundraising strategies and planning and is responsible for the organization’s major donors and foundations work.

For over 15 years, Interfaith Peace Builders has created and led diverse delegations to Palestine/Israel, transforming concerned individuals into passionate advocates prominent in the US-based movement for Palestinian rights. Each delegation is an experiment in building transnational solidarity based on real human connections, making and renewing partnerships at the intersections of national and global resistance struggles. IFPB’s Education and Advocacy Program complements the Delegation Program, emphasizing continued engagement, activist skills training, and empowerment of our passionate, energized, and articulate delegation participants—raising their voices in halls and media across the nation—revealing the truth of Palestinian lives and history and demanding justice.

This is an extraordinary moment in the life of IFPB, as we invest in rebranding the organization, enhancing our public face, and developing new tools to attract more delegates and supporters of the movement for Palestinian rights. Who You Are

Our preferred candidate will have a minimum of five years of progressive management experience in a nonprofit organization (or equivalent relevant professional experience).  You have excellent interpersonal abilities and communication skills, both in person and working remotely.  You also have a broad understanding of Palestine/Israel, race in the United States, progressive activism, and current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization. Familiarity with IFPB is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time exempt position based in Washington, DC with full medical, dental, and vision coverage (PPO plan), 20 days of PTO, 10 paid holidays, sick leave, compensation days for weekend work, parental leave, additional leave for other types of necessitated PTO, a flexible, family-friendly schedule, and seniority raises.

Starting Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 based on experience.
