This delegation to the Gaza Strip is open to all and will focus on an in-depth look at the situation on the ground, as well as the work of various civil society groups, grassroots organizers, religious leaders and more.  Preference will be given to those joining the October/November 2013 delegation and those with previous experience on an IFPB delegation.

Leaders

Ghada Ageel is a visiting professor at the University of Alberta, Political Science Department. She is an independent scholar, an activist and a member of Faculty 4 Palestine. A third generation Palestinian refugee, Ghada was born and raised in the Khan Younis Refugee Camp in the Gaza Strip. She earned her BA in Education from the Islamic University in 1999 and. in the same year, won the Jerusalem Studies' Scholarship to the University of Exeter, where she received her Master's and PhD degrees in Middle East Politics. Ghada's work has been published in many of newspapers and journals worldwide, including The Washington Post, The International Herald Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, BBC, CNN, The Guardian, Journal for Palestine Studies and many Arabic newspapers throughout the Middle East. Ghada joined and played a central role in IFPB's 2012 Delegation to the Gaza Strip. She currently lives and works in Edmonton, Canada.

Cathy Sultan lived in Beirut, Lebanon with her Lebanese husband and two small children from 1969 to 1983. In March 2002, Cathy traveled to Jerusalem and the West Bank to better understand the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. She interviewed Palestinians in refugee camps, scholars, Israeli soldiers, teenagers, teachers, businessmen and peace activists. She has published three books: A Beirut Heart: One Woman's War, Israeli and Palestinian Voices: A Dialogue with Both Sides, and Tragedy in South Lebanon: The Israeli-Hezbollah War of 2006. Cathy currently sits on Interfaith Peace-Builders' Board of Directors and has led three delegations to Israel-Palestine with IFPB. Cathy was also a vital member of Interfaith Peace-Builders' November 2012 delegation to the Gaza Strip

Logistics

Final costs & details will be determined shortly. Cost is expected to be between $1800 and $2200. This includes 10 days on the ground, hotel accommodations, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, local transportation, guides, speaker/event fees and basic tips and gratuities.

Delegates not joining the October/November 2013 delegation will be expected make their own arrangements to meet in Cairo on the morning of November 9, 2013. Exact location and time to be determined.

The cost does not include international airfare and hotel accommodations needed directly preceding or following the delegation. Interfaith Peace-Builders will not be arranging flights for this delegation, except for delegates also joining the October/November 2013 delegation. Therefore, delegates joining only the Gaza delegation will be responsible for securing their own individual flights.

Entry into the Gaza Strip cannot be guaranteed. If entry of the group is
denied or a decision is made by the full group not to enter due to
security, a program will take place in Egypt.
