2009 Calendar
A 12-month calendar featuring photos from Interfaith Peace-Builders & American Friends Service Committee delegations to Israel/Palestine
A group of recent participants on IFPB & AFSC delegations has just produced a 2009 calendar which brings to life the delegation experience. The calendar features photos from our delegations taken by delegates themselves. Each photo includes an informative caption, so the calendar is a tangible way to educate others on the Israel/Palestine conflict.
In addition to featuring compelling photos from our delegations to Israel/Palestine, this 12-month 2009 calendar also features:
- US holidays plus Muslim, Jewish, and Christian holy days
- Upcoming 2009 IFPB delegation dates
- Recommended books and films to learn more
This calendar is an excellent way to remember your own travels through Israel/Palestine. It also makes a great gift for others who haven't been yet. You could also sell or distribute it as part of your local organizing and education efforts on Israel/Palestine.

And the calendar goes to support an important cause! For each calendar sold, over $10 will go to the IFPB scholarship fund.
In granting scholarships to help subsidize the delegation, IFPB prioritizes those who would not otherwise be able to join. We also grant scholarships to people who diversify our delegations and broaden education and advocacy work in the United States. We strive to organize delegations diverse in age, gender, sexual orientation, class, ethnic identity and racial background..

A crucial part of every IFPB delegation is to unravel the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by seeing the effects of the occupation on both Palestinians and Israelis, and listening to those who are directly involved. Our delegations encounter perspectives that are not readily accessible in the United States.
Here, the photo in the calendar for March 2009 shows a recent delegation learning about Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem from an Israeli activist. A caption explains more, and major holidays, religious holy days, and the March 2009 IFPB delegation are included in the calendar below.
As delegation members learn about the situation, they meet and directly hear from Israelis and Palestinians committed to a better future. As our delegates discover, by observing and listening with an open mind, nonviolent action by Israelis and Palestinians is widespread, creative, and effective.
Here the December 2009 calendar page features a photo of a community leader in Bil'in and his daughter. A recent delegation visited on her birthday and delegates got to join in the family's celebration. The delegation experience is built on personal contact and direct interaction with Israelis and Palestinians like this.
Delegations travel throughout Israel and the West Bank to see the physical manifestations of the conflict as well as hear and learn from those living there.
One of the most prominent features of the physical landscape is the Wall/fence/barrier that Israel is building inside the West Bank. The July 2009 calendar photo shows the Wall running along Aida refugee Camp in Bethlehem.
In addition to these three pages featured here, the calendar features more than 8 other images that provide more glimpses of life in Israel/Palestine.
