Separate is Never Equal Speaking Tour
IFPB sponsors Successful National Tour, bringing Palestinian and South African Leaders to Communities across the US
In the fall of 2008, Interfaith Peace-Builders supported the Separate is Never Equal Speaking Tour organized by the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation. Separate is Never Equal: Stories of Apartheid from South Africa to Palestine featured Palestinian advocate and Activist Diana Buttu alongside General Secretary of the South African Council of Churches, Reverend Eddie Makue.
The tour visited 13 cities in two weeks speaking to hundreds of people. Diana and Eddie shared stories of their struggles to achieve equality under apartheid regimes and spoke out against Israeli apartheid policies against Palestinians, while US Campaign National Organizer Katherine Fuchs encouraged audiences to engage in campaigns of boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) as a strategy for achieving peace, justice, and equality for Palestinians and Israelis.
Interfaith Peace-Builders supported the event by connecting local activists and delegation participants to US Campaign organizers and by dissemenating news and information about the events. IFPB Communications and Grants Coordinator, Jacob Pace, introduced the tour's opening event at the Palestine Center in Washington DC on November 12, 2008.
Interfaith Peace-Builders is proud to work with the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation as a partner and member of the coalition. Click here for more information on the tour and resources on the US Campaign's Standing Against Apartheid Framework.
