ON TAX DAY, REMEMBER THE MEANING OF JOINT STRUGGLE

Your Taxes May Go to War and Occupation, But You Can Make a Contribution to Peace by Supporting Interfaith Peace-Builders

In 2009, the War Resisters League reports that nearly half of each tax dollar to the US government will go to support war and occupation (learn more).   This includes approximately $3 billion of US foreign military aid to Israel.

As citizens we have limited options.  If we cannot resist these war taxes, then we can find another way to offset the harmful uses to which our money is put. Interfaith Peace-Builders continues to work for peace and justice in Israel/Palestine and for a new reality in US foreign policy which respects peace and human rights around the world.  On Tax Day, consider supporting the crucial work of Interfaith Peace-Builders by making a tax-deductible donation.

Our recent newsletter centers on the meaning of joint struggle and includadbullah abu rahmees an important letter from an Israeli jail by Abdullah Abu Rahme, a leader of the nonviolent movement in the village of Bil’in.  Abu Rahme writes:

“From the confines of my imprisonment it becomes so clear that our struggle is far bigger than justice for only Bil’in or even Palestine. We are engaged in an international fight against oppression.”

You can join this struggle today!  Please donate to Interfaith Peace-Builders to ensure that important voices like that of Abdullah Abu Rahme do not fall silent and that the courageous acts of Israeli and Palestinian peace-builders find the support they need.

As our taxes continue to feed the forces of war and occupation, let us each make a small contribution to peace and justice.
